LIGHT, NATURE, TRUTH
About us.
Sowerby Bridge Spiritualist Church is a cherished part of the local community, offering a meaningful link between the town’s Victorian heritage and its living spiritual tradition. Established in June-1874, it is believed to be the oldest purpose-built Spiritualist Lyceum in the United Kingdom, founded during a time when spiritualism was flourishing among working communities. From its earliest days, the church served not only as a place of worship but also as a vibrant social centre, bringing people together through gatherings, shared learning, and community events. Although it has experienced periods of decline and temporary closure over the years, its importance has endured, and today it stands revived through the dedication of its community.
Rooted in the belief that life continues beyond death and that connections with loved ones remain, the church provides a welcoming and supportive space for all who seek comfort, understanding, and spiritual growth. Through regular services, healing sessions, and development circles, it continues its long tradition of guidance and connection. Blending history with renewal, Sowerby Bridge Spiritualist Church remains a place of peace, reflection, and belonging—open to everyone, whether they are beginning their spiritual journey or continuing a lifelong path.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, AND WE INVITE YOU TO COME JUST AS YOU ARE.
